Rene Denis Largo
Dr. Rene D. Largo is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, USA. He completed medical doctorate at the University of Zurich Medical School, Switzerland with a rotation to Duke Medical School, North Carolina, USA. Dr. Largo completed a research fellowship in Group Cell and Gene Therapy and Tissue Engineering prior to attending a residency in Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery at the University Hospital in Basel, Switzerland. He served as an attending in Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital of Basel prior to attending his final fellowship in microvascular reconstructive surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is certified through the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, and the Swiss Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Dr. Largo is a member of various international Plastic Surgery societies including the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American and European Plastic Surgery Research Council, and the Swiss Plastic Surgery society. He has published in numerous scientific articles in peer reviewed Plastic Surgery journals and has given numerous talks and lectures all over the globe. Dr. Largo was the Chairman of the European Plastic Surgery Research Council in Hamburg Germany in 2018.
Dr. Largo is recognized as an international expert in microsurgery with focus on advanced microsurgical breast reconstruction and head and neck reconstruction.
